Surprise, Surprise (1984-2001)

This was a well loved and popular British show hosted by Cilla Black (from Blind Date fame). Cilla was a big hit on Blind Date so when this show was only initially due to run for one series it was decided to carry on and it actually run for the rest of the 80s and throughout the 90s. A good decision to keep it going methinks! It basically took normal everyday people and reunited them with long lost relatives or friends (with the help of some of their families who had actually written into the show for a mother, father, etc), bringing them onto the show for their first meeting, and was hugely successful. Some of the people the show managed to track down lived very far away such as Australia, Canada or the US so it was wonderful to see them being brought together again. We used to eagerly watch this every week in our house and guaranteed every week without fail we would all be crying as the reunions were so emotional and heart warming. We actually always made sure we had a box of tissues handy! If you get the chance to check it out don't forget I did warn you about the tissues (you're gonna need them).
