Dogtanian (1981-1985)
Created By: BRB Internacional, Claudio Biern Boyd Voices Of: Cam Clarke, Dan Woren, Mikey Godzilla, Eddie Frierson and Rebecca Forstadt
From the same company (BRB Internacional) that brought us Around the World With Willy Fog came this absolute 80s gem: Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds, based on the classic story of DArtagnan and the Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. However this charming and timeless series gave us the characters as anthropomorphic animals, mainly dogs with the exception of the temptress Milady (a cat), the avian jewel thief Blue Falcon; Planchet (a bear), Dogtanian's main servant, Pip (Dogtanian's funny sidekick mouse) and some random townspeople and guards of the Cardinal. The story is set in the 17th century and follows a young Dogtanian who has been sent on a journey to Paris by his father for training by his friend Monsieur Trevill. Dogtanians wish is to become one of King Louis XIII of France's trusted musketeers. He quickly befriends three musketeers (Porthos, Athos and Aramis) and falls in love with Juliette, a maid-in-waiting for Queen Anne of Austria. Dogtanian has many adventures along the way with his friends as well as his very talkative and energetic mouse Pip providing us with hours of great cartoon TV. The animation may not be all that but this is a classic tale of friendship, overcoming your problems, courage and determination and it has one of THE best theme tunes ever!
